Trying to play a game on my laptop?

I purchased Duke Nukem Forever for the pc, and installed it on my laptop. My laptop installed it with no problem at all, never popped up any form of warning. Everytime I try to play it, my computer locks, or lags so much that it locks during a loading screen. I have to hold the power button (Ctrl Alt Del does nothing). Why is it that it installed without any problem and didn't pop up any warnings (some games I tried before would pop up and say i needed some certain graphics card, etc), but it can't play on my laptop? I have Empire Earth on here and it plays just fine. Is there any way that I can get it to possibly play. I was able to get to the menu and turned the resolution and screen size all the way down, and that didn't help, it still locked up the computer. Thanks for any help.
