Can you play a Sims 2 game without a disk.....?

I like playing on Sims 2 (I have Sims 3, but I've lost the installation code for the game :/ So I play Sims 2) Anyway, I want to install them on my new computer, but I remeber when I used to play on them, I always had to use freetime as the disk to run it on, however I've since lost the disk for freetime (but I still have the installation code). If I downloaded the game off the internet somewhere, would I still be able to install and run the game without the disk (I know some games bring up warnings if you don't insert the disk)
