I have 8,500 event errors on my laptop?

Hello, I hope someone can give me some advice? I purchased a brand new acer aspire laptop and as soon as i started using it, within the first couple days I realized it was acting strange, the clock settings would not stay. I called the tech support # and they told me how to fix it,then other strange behaviors like missing tool bar icons and the touch pad mouse would stop working. i thought it was a virus?I have spent hours and days trying to clean my computer, but it was clean. Yesterday i found registry errors and warnings.. they are dated back three months before i purchased it brand new!! I thought it had been used prior to me, so i called acer and they said no it has software problems and i need to use my restore disks but they wouldent work ! Acer said i can purchase the disks for $ 20.00. WHAT? I am still under warranty for a couple weeks. Does anyone have any advice?
